'Alarming' rise in ransomware tracked

An article on the BBC website discusses an "alarming" rise in the amount of ransomware being seen in the wild, with over 120 different "families" known so far (far more specific pieces of ransomware among those families). Ransomware is definitely developing into the most serious malware threat currently being experienced by personal computers.

I urge all clients to be careful where they browse, what links they click on and what emails they open, and have quality anvirus/antimalware software running at all times. I advise strongly against the use of the mainstream products such as McAfee, Norton and Symantec as they are notoriously rather poor at actual detection and instead profit mainly from their name recognition and bundling deals they make with computer manufacturers.
