Computerworld is reporting a story about how HP has been caught secretly installing spyware on computers of its customers, without warning or asking permission. HP is calling its spyware "Touchpoint Analytics Service". Users have complained about performance and slowness issues that went away once the software was removed.
"Telemetry" is the common euphemism these days for manufacturer-created spyware that we've seen from the likes of Microsoft, Lenovo, HP and others. It seems HP did not learn the lessons that Lenovo had to learn when Lenovo tried to pull the same thing recently and was caught.
